Hello, Comm!

Based off of the results for one of the last polls it seems that many who voted would like to see monthly prompts, a variety of prizes, and more writing exchanges.

I have a few ideas for challenges and prompts, but I'm still ironing out details and prizes. But here is a general idea of what's to possibly come.

Anonymous Challenge
Participants will receive a random prompt and submit entries under an alias. I was thinking of compiling entries under a neutral jounral created just for the challenge for everyone to read and leave comments on. There will be an open poll afterward for everyone to vote.

Stuck in the Middle
Everyone will receive the same opening and ending lines. It will be how you connect them in the middle that'll make each one unique.

S-Class Exam
This will be a "death-match" of sorts and I'm hoping to see LOTS of participation for this one. So I may hold off on this until some participation picks up. This will hopefully last for an entire month. There will be 4 prompts, one for each week, with half of the writers being eliminated each week. So let's say 16 people sign up. Eight will remain in the second week, then four in the next, and the final two will show down in the last. It'll be a lot of (fun!) work so I want to make the prizes really special.

Edolas Exchange
After sign-ups are done I will send everyone who joined up for it a PM with the member and their prompt they are writing for. That way it will be one big secret as to who is writing for whom and it'll all be revealed at once. Hey, part of the gift is the surprise element :)

Let me know what you think of these ideas, community! Do you like 'em? Hate 'em? Have ideas to improve on 'em?
Feel free to share your ideas, it's what helps to make the community what it is!

Do you want to host a challenge or contest yourself? If you'd like to get more in depth with an idea, don't hesitate to send me a PM.

Do you have some mad-awesome art skillz? Or are you handy with crafts? Would you like to contribute to a prize?
Drop me a PM or leave a note in the comments.

I turn it over to you community!

LJ keeps eating my code!! I'll get the poll about prizes up soon!

Hello everyone! After talking with renaliner, she has made me a mod/maintainer for Fairy Flash. I’m very excited and have a couple of ideas for contests and challenges. Keep an eye out for a post on it soon!

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is denilmo, but many know me simply as Deni. I’m going to be leading you in something new in the community, and based off of participation this might become a bi-weekly event. As for now though, it will come monthly.

We all love Fairy Tail - it's what has brought us here, but what else do we have in common? I want to get to know you, community!

So, for our topic this month: Introduce yourself! Long-time posters and lurkers (I know you're out there), tell me:
How did you find Fairy Tail? What are some of your other favorite fandoms?

I've been reading Fairy Tail for about two years now. I've never been a big fan of Rave Master, but Mashima-san really won me over wtih Fairy Tail. I stumbled across it one day after reading Naruto and I've been hooked ever since.

Naruto is one fandom that I'm pretty active in. I've also written for Bleach, Inu Yasha, Mushi Shi, and Final Fantasy VII - but they rarely see the light of day ^_^

What about you, community?

Okay, so clearly the competition thing didn't work out, largely because I was way busier than I had previously anticipated and was a sucky mod. You have my appologies for that.

I can't really organize anything right at this moment, because I sort of have to get on plane in about four hours and would like to get some sleep in before that, so I'll just do a quick poll and look it over when I get backin two weeks. If you would take the time to participate, I would very much appreciate it. :)

Obviously, if there's something else you'd like to address, just put it in the comments.

Did you like the idea of contests/prompts in the first place?

Yes, I like the competetive element.
No, I find it too structured.
Yes, but I would like things to be more lax.
Yes, but the deadlines come too quickly.
No, I would rather just write whatever and use this comm as an advertisement place.

How could the contest be improved upon, if we do it again?

Different/More appealing prizes.
Longer deadlines.
Different prompts.
Get rid of the competetive element, make it more like a gift swap.
Have more mod involvement, with weekly/monthly reminders.
More participation by other community members.

What kind of comm appeals to you the most?

One that is basically like an ad page.
One with monthly prompts.
One where contests are held.
One that's more writing-exchange-ish.
One that organizes writing buddies and events!
The inter kind.

Hey guys, so I was a total idiot and didn't account for my family suddenly demanding I drop everything and fly to the other side of the continent. Alas.

The point being! I will be out of town and without access to a computer on the 15th, so for this reason, I have decided to extend the contest's deadline another week, to the 22nd of July.

That's all!
